Research work at Newcastle University Business School focused on IT Asset
Management and its relationship to operational effectiveness and Competitive
Advantage in IT outsourcing environments. As an enabler for this research
agenda, a model and service definitions for IT Asset Management had to be
developed that closed the gap in current literature and 'best practice'
collections, such as ITIL.
Further building on established and tested models, the emergent
construct allows determining contributions towards competitive
advantage, based on business requirement of suppliers and customers in
the IT outsourcing industry. It is anticipated that the model and its
dimensions support subsequent quantitative research in the domain of IT
Asset Management.
- Business-focused Services Model for IT Asset Management
- Measurement and Analysis Construct for relation to gains in
Competitive Advantage (IT CALM)
- Positioning IT Asset Management into domain of MIS allow model to
be applied in wider context.
